A Dental Crown Can Restore a Tooth When a Dental Filling Is Not Sufficient

Posted .

If you have a tooth that is too decayed to support a dental filling, Dr. Roderick S. Cooper may recommend a dental crown in Tucker, Georgia. This will replace the entire tooth enamel layer with an alternative material such as gold, porcelain, or a blend of base metals.

The treatment process starts with our dentist numbing the tooth before shaping the enamel layer. Eventually, your prepared tooth will anchor your dental crown in place.

An impression will be prepared of the tooth and the surrounding teeth. This is sent to a lab to serve as a guide for the technicians that will create your dental crown. A temporary crown may be placed to protect your tooth until the permanent dental crown is ready.

A member of our team will call you to set up a short follow-up appointment when your dental crown is ready. At this appointment, the temporary crown will be removed and your new dental crown will be cemented onto the tooth. The fit of the crown will be checked and any needed adjustments will be made.

If you have a tooth suffering from a large cavity, you should call 770-921-9000 to schedule an appointment at Bella Dental. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
